Everyday Cuban Spanish beyond a vocabulary list

Daily conversation is made of small transitions: arriving, greeting someone, explaining what you are doing and deciding what comes next. A word you recognise on a flashcard becomes more useful when you can place it inside one of those moments.

Listen for a speaker’s purpose. Are they giving information, checking a plan, asking a favour or keeping the conversation going? The same familiar verb can do different work depending on the question, the people involved and what has already been said.

¿Qué haces después? means What are you doing afterwards? It is ordinary Spanish, and the answer can lead naturally into work, errands, family or free time. Learning a short exchange helps you connect a new word with a situation you might actually recognise.

The academy activity is available through your learner profile for focused practice. Our public guides to common Cuban phrases and slang add another layer: how expressions fit a conversation, when they sound familiar and why translating each word separately can miss the point.
