Look closely at an Amelia Peláez painting and you'll start recognising things from a Cuban house: a fruit bowl, coloured glass, ironwork, a patterned tablecloth.
Then try to work out where the table ends and the window begins.
Peláez was a Cuban modernist who brought those domestic details into paintings full of strong colour and thick outlines. A piece of fruit could share its curves with a window grille; the room could become a whole arrangement of interlocking shapes.
Her paintings give you plenty to look at without leaving the house.
