A jaba is a bag. Usually the plastic one you take shopping.
But in Cuba, it can carry far more than groceries. You’ll hear: “Trae una jaba,” “pon eso en la jaba,” or “salí con la jaba llena.”
It’s one of those words that immediately sounds Cuban. Say bolsa and nobody will misunderstand you. Say jaba and you sound like you have somewhere to be, something to carry, and probably a long walk ahead of you.
Just don’t confuse it with jabá. One letter changes the whole conversation.
