  2. Asere – This simply means "buddy" or "bro." You will hear it in almost every casual conversation.

  3. ¿Qué vuelta? – Another very common way to say "What is going on?" or "What is new?"

  4. Chao pescao – A fun, rhyming way to say "See you later."

  5. Dímelo cantando – Literally translates to "tell me singing," but it means "tell me what is up" in a friendly way.

  6. Dale – A versatile word meaning "OK," "go ahead," or "let's do it."

  7. Socio – Partner or friend.

  8. Consorte – A very close, good friend.

  9. Pinchar – To work.

  10. El gao – The house or home.

Describing People 🧍

  1. Yuma – A foreigner, especially someone from the United States or an English-speaking country.

  2. Jeva / Jevo – Girlfriend or boyfriend, or simply an attractive young woman or man.

  3. Chama – A kid, child, or teenager.

  4. Los puros – A loving slang term for your parents.

  5. Temba – A middle-aged person.

  6. Un mango – Someone who is very attractive. Literally, a mango!

  7. Un punto – A gullible person or someone who gets easily tricked.

  8. Fula – Can mean someone who is fake or shady, and it is also street slang for US Dollars.

  9. Pesao – A really annoying or heavy-handed person.

  10. Friqui – A rocker, punk, or alternative person.

Daily Life & Action 🏃

  1. Resolver – To hustle, figure things out, or creatively solve a problem. This is a huge part of Cuban culture.

  2. Coger botella – To hitchhike or catch a ride.

  3. Cuadrar la caja – To make a plan, settle a deal, or align your stories.

  4. Fajarse – To get into a physical fight or a heated argument.

  5. Jamar – To eat.

  6. Guarachar – To go out partying, dancing, and having a great time.

  7. Meter la Habana en Guanabacoa – Trying to fit too many things into a very small space.

  8. Echar un patín – To run away very fast.

  9. Me piro – I am leaving right now.

  10. Tirar un cabo – To help someone out or do them a favor.

  8. Botar el golpe – To relax, cool down, and release stress after a very hard day.

  9. Estar fundido – To be mentally or physically exhausted. Burnt out.

  10. Ponerse las pilas – To wake up, pay attention, and get energized.

Classic Cuban Slang 🌴

  1. Radio bemba – Gossip that spreads rapidly by word of mouth.

  2. Comer bola – To foolishly believe a lie or a rumor.

  3. Irse de rosca – To cross the line or take a joke completely out of proportion.

  4. Inventar – To find highly creative ways to survive, fix broken items, or make things work.

  5. Paladar – A privately owned, family-run restaurant in Cuba.

  6. Guagua – A public bus.

  7. Almendrón – A classic, vintage American car that is used as a shared taxi.

  8. Frutabomba – The papaya fruit. In Cuba, you must use this word because the actual word "papaya" is very inappropriate slang!

  9. Jaba – A plastic shopping bag.

  10. Jinetero / Jinetera – A street hustler who tries to sell things to tourists or act as an uninvited guide.
